have you seen the movie tanpopo? there is a scene where two lovers pass an egg yolk back and forth with their tongues and i read this paper for Japanese film that said it was a symbol of the japanese sense of 'otherness' and 'community'. I also read that the yellow egg broken onto a steaming bowl of rice is pleasingly reminiscent of the japanese flag and the rising sun. what do you think of that? also, what is your favorite japanese food?
I like that, a lot. This is a lovely tidbit of information! You don’t have to be so anonymous!
I haven’t seen the film but I am definitely intrigued. It sounds good. I’d really love to visit Japan, especially all the quiet, remote, foresty places. Oh man, what a dream.
My favorite Japanese food… that is so hard to decide! I’ll tell you what I love: All kinds of sushi (I looove fish), miso soup, shrimp tempura, fried calamari, tamago, pork dumplings, Udon, this thing called a popstar at Sushi Ichiban in Portland (inari with rice in it and two thick slices of avocado with cream cheese on top), and I really like anpan (bread with sweet bean paste in the center). DAMNIT I MISS THIS.
I don’t, haha. I don’t eat very well, unfortunately. But I do have a really fast metabolism + I’m just petite. All the crap I eat, I believe, just goes into my butt and thighs and I always want to munch on shit (sometimes, not all the time). I do try and take Vitamin D tablets and take vitamins from time to time. I drink a lot of water. Water all the time, erryday. And I drink V8 when I can. I don’t know - I’m really not that healthy. I need to change that!
It was alright. I ate a lot of burritos, saw friends back home, took a road trip up the coast back to Portland, did cool shit there (like going to the naked beach and swimming in icy waterfall forest canyons), tried and failed to get a summer job, hung out with my brother, went to a couple midnight movies, had some upsetting emotional times, ate a lot of burritos, went to Santa BroBro and got pretty sick from partying too hard, going to the beach, staying up late, and just chillin’. I didn’t see enough of certain friends though so that sucked. Better luck next time!
